Eric
St. Laurent and his trio have to be seen to be believed. One
of the most unique, kick ass bands in the country!

ST-LAURENT
is a fresh and exciting trio that plays the compositions
of guitarist Eric St-Laurent and creates
new interpretations every night through the magic of improvisation.
Afro-Cuban rhythms combined with Jazz and Blues elements
are the heart of the experience.
Lyrical melodies, infectious grooves and riffs, lots of
interaction and a good dose of humour round off the picture.
With the unique and highly virtuosic rhythm section
of Jordan O'Connor (bass) and
Michel DeQuevedo (percussion), this band creates
joy, excitment - and a few other emotions that simply haven't
been named yet.

Eric
was born, raised, and learned to play guitar in Montréal.
After studying improvisation in New-York, he moved to Berlin
for 10 years, making records and touring Europe with some
German and Scandinavian big names (and some small ones too),
while getting a start at composing for film. He is now back
in Canada and based in Toronto, where work with his trio,
Carlos Del Junco, Richard Underhill,
and many others, keeps him busy. |
Bassist/Composer
and Co-Founder of The Breath.com, Jordan
O'Connor grew up in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, but
for the past 13 years has been living and performing out
of Toronto. Jordan has been composing for a variety of ensembles
as well as for film, most recently the upcoming feature
“Ya, Whatever Girl” by writer director Carolyn
Hurren.
Jordan and Eric met at a recording session (Jennifer
Ryan's debut CD) and then their lives went separate
ways. A decade later they met again at Jennifer's apartment
and talked for hours before someone told them they'd been
on the same record.

Michel
DeQuevedo has been playing drums and percussion since
he was a small child. He has toured in Italy, Chilie, Mexico,
The United States and Canada with people like Julieta
Venega, Random Order, Zoe
Bentley and many more.
Michel and Eric met in Mexico City in 2001 in a basement jazz
club. Several shots of tequila later, Michel was still going
going strong and sounding better than ever but Eric turned
green in the face and started contemplating death.
Incredibly, they met on the street in Toronto - where they
now both live - years later (2007) and started playing together
shortly after, as if nothing had ever happened (and just maybe,
nothing has). |
